Grimsby Town Football Club’s supporters’ trust were publishing an anthology of writing by the fans, bringing together material written between 1970 and 2002.
But the book was missing an account of the club’s most successful season of that period.
To write a specially commissioned chapter on the 1997/98 season, in which the Mariners won promotion – and the Football League Trophy – and played at Wembley for the first time in the club’s then 128-year history.
This new material would form the centrepiece of the book.
We Are Town was launched in November 2015 at a special event held at the club’s McMenemy’s function suite alongside players and managers who were featured in the book.
Ahead of the launch event I drew up a good old PR plan of attack, which included featuring a ‘behind the scenes’ (or ‘the making of’) two-part feature, which I published and shared on my blog:
